- PTH: Gameplay
Satisfying progress Well Ive been slowly chipping away at the basics of the game, and its at least playable now. There are enemies, they have attacks and their own little quirks. Each Hero class has its own way of playing that at least feels different enough from each other. Gameplay of the Chef: Controls: Right now, things are still very finicky. Clicking on enemies can feel like you need to do it just right, or you walk around them, but I need to balance that with being able to select enemies on top of each other. Something I’ll need to figure out. Overall It feels okay to hit the buttons and the attacks come pretty quickly. But the link between hitting a button and something being/feeling satisfying, is something I haven’t hit yet.
- PTH Next steps: Procedural Generation
Tarn Adams is a steeley eyed missle man Ive wanted to do procedural generation for a long time and its a subjec that has always fascinated me. The math and concepts have always eluded my free time and brain capacity. So whilst I’ve currently got both of those I decided to read his book (https://www.amazon.com.au/Procedural-Generation-Design-Tanya-Short/dp/1498799191 Its not an afilliate link). I didn’t want to procedurally generate the world entirely, so I went with the maps and map stories instead.
- Part-Time Heroes: A First Look
What Part-Time Heroes is about: an action RPG where the chosen hero of legend turns out to be an innkeeper, a cook, a shopkeeper, an actor or a farmer. Plus a first look at the game running.
- Part Time Heros
What am I doing Last time I put a post up here I said that I’ve always wanted to tell stories, I’ve just never found the time or methodology that I’ve wanted to use. There is one story that has been bumping around in the back of my brain for a long time and now Im going to tell a PART of that story, but differently. I’m keeping some of the world building and a large part of the motivations of the worl, just not the magic system I lovingly handcrafted. Instead Im going to tell a story about a magic gone wrong, abscent gods, wild magic and an accident; you, you’re the accident.
- Hello, World
What is this page for? I’ve always wanted to tell stories, I’ve just never had the time, space or venue to do so. Starting this year I’ve found a story worth telling and a way that I want to tell it. The first project for 2026/2027 (at least) is going to be called “Eyo: Part-Time Heroes”. This page will be used to post updates on that. Will you provide updates? As I progress through the creation of the project, I’ll post content here and possibly provide access to footage and story content.
