Enigma-Penguin

PTH: Gameplay

Satisfying progress

Well Ive been slowly chipping away at the basics of the game, and its at least playable now. There are enemies, they have attacks and their own little quirks. Each Hero class has its own way of playing that at least feels different enough from each other.

Gameplay of the Chef:

Controls:

Right now, things are still very finicky. Clicking on enemies can feel like you need to do it just right, or you walk around them, but I need to balance that with being able to select enemies on top of each other. Something I’ll need to figure out. Overall It feels okay to hit the buttons and the attacks come pretty quickly. But the link between hitting a button and something being/feeling satisfying, is something I haven’t hit yet.

Sounds:

The sounds are in for attacks and little things, but without music it just feels a bit dead and a little annoying. I need to break out the old midi keyboard and see if I can find a sound that fits the game… or at least the first few levels. I keep coming back to things like stardew valley and slime rancher in my mind, but we’re not talking about the same games here. I need to get some inspiration from something like torchlight and other ARPGs.

Art:

There’s still a tonne of stand in art that really isn’t doing much right now. A lot of prefabs that are just primary shapes cobbled together to look like things. If anyone knows a 3d artist, well, hit me up.

EP out.
